Icelandic holidays
Thorrablot: Thorrablot is an Icelandic feast that takes place the first friday after January 19th. It was originally a festival devoted to the pagan gods but now it is a celebration of their Viking heritage where they eat tradtional foods such as hakarl (Putrefied shark), Blóðmör (Blood Sausage), Lundabaggi (Sheep's fat), svio (Boiled sheep's head), and Hangikjot (smoked lamb). After the feast there is dancing and other festivities until morning.
Bolludagur: Also known as "Bun day" this holiday is characterized by Bakeries and Restaraunts making mass amounts of cream puffs. The holiday takes place seven weeks before Easter and was originated in Denmark.
Beer Day: On March 1st people living in Iceland celebrate the anniversary of beer being legalized. To celebrate they drink lots of beer.
