Reykjavik | Kópavogur | Hafnarfjörður
Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland and has a population of approximately 120,000. It can be seen on the above map in the south western corner marked by a red square. It is located at 64.1333° N, 21.9333° W. Reykjavik is a city alongside the ocean and was the first established in Ireland. The reason it grew to be the capital probably has to do with both of these factors. Because It is by the sea it would have been easy to export and import goods, leading to a well rounded economy. Because it was one of the first settled towns it would have a lot more people in it to help said economy along making it into a valuable town and then the capital. (telegraph.co.uk)

Kópavogur is another large city of Iceland. It has a population of approximately 31,000 people and can be seen on the above map right beneath the red square marking Reykjavik. Kópavogur is mostly residential and only six minutes away from Reykjavik. This makes it a great place for people who work in the city to live so that they are close to their job, but not to the noise of the city. (bjarkireyr.com)

The third largest city in Iceland is Hafnarfjörður, with a population of 27,357. This name of this city can be seen written below the name of Reykjavik. Hafnarfjörður is 13 minutes away from Reykjavik and has a an aluminum smelter 1.2 miles out of town. Hafnarfjörður is also a harbor city. The earliest use of the harbor date back to the end of the fourteenth century. The fact that Hafnarfjörður has a nice dock for imports and exports and the fact that it is close to the bustling city of Reykjavik make it an ideal spot for growth. (visithafnarfjordur.is)
