the blue lagoon
The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spring in Iceland that was created from the waste of a geothermal power plant. It is composed of minerals such as sulphur and the silicon that gives it it's light blue coloring. The water is typically 98-102 degrees fahrenheit and was discovered to be good for your skin and able to help with skin diseases. Because of this newfound knowledge it opened as a public bathing facility in 1987. In 1999 the Blue Lagoon became a spa that offers many services such as in water massages, beauty treatments, and guided tours. It is now one of the most popular tourist attractions in Iceland.
